Tight Lines – 3rd May
May 03, 2024

Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines

Superb Autumn conditions for all types of fishing throughout the Peel region.

Our Bread-and-butter species Herring are at their absolute prime this time of year with many fish stretching out the brag mag to 30 cm, either along our beaches or in the Estuary itself. Their close cousin the Aussie Salmon are also about not in big numbers close to shore but those shore based anglers in the right place at the right time have had some great sessions.

Our Mulloway are also active along the beaches given the amount of bait close to shore it’s a good time of year to soak some fresh baits or even a livey.

Offshore activity from big Dhu fish has been impressive with many PBs being broken over the month of April.

And the inshore Pink Snapper season has already started with anchor and berley sessions attracting good Pinks along with some yellow Tail Kings turning up to the party as well.

While I religiously fish with lumo tube for Pink Snapper, one bait in the spread without lumo tube can be the one percenter to attract a bite from a YTK.

Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
