Mother nature is keeping us on our toes with rain continuing thru our region. What’s that mean for fishing opportunities.

For our freshwater species it means we still have lots of opportunity as the small streams will still have some water flow, and the daily temp still has a long way to go before the water temp in the dams gets too high and the Trout shutdown for the summer.

Dirty water on the beaches is good for Land based Snapper and with the building full moon next week Tailor activity will be at the top of the list. Creamy water and a full moon should have them up and about for the sunrise and sunset sessions. Remember darker lures or lure with high UV for darker water and darker skies. The good old lightly weighted mulies a good converter under these conditions also.

Good activity up our rivers as well with Bream and Juvenile Mulloway. The same applies as the fresh water the mild weather will keep those species active until we get those weeks of summer conditions.

Whiting Sand and KG just offshore between the swell periods are also a good option keep those baits right on the sea floor with vexed micro meats and long thin baits the go.

From this week’s pics we can see some solid YFW getting around conditions are tough but there are fish out there for those that put the time in. Vibes or surface lure with a good amount of UV doing the trick.

Crays will they bunker down and moult after the full moon? It’s always hard to tell, a few pots left on the reef as sighters is the only way to be sure. But if they don’t start returning into pots approx. 7 days after the full moon next week that’s more than likely the scenario.
