Its that time of year when our crustaceans are hitting their prime.
If you haven’t had the chance to get yourself a feed of tasty Blue Manna crabs It’s the time to crab a Scoop, Willie hook or grab the drop nets from the shed. They are in good numbers and full. Generally, as we are heading into the dark side of the moon we find them in the deeper water.

Crays it’s not a bad time to consider putting a few pots back into the water. From now till the end of April or May can be a great time of year to target reds. Keep your pots close to structure as they tend not to wonder to far with the clearer water. For the divers the Visibility has been fantastic, our hard bottom in 20 to 30 metres has been alive with crays and fish life. Definitely a good week to get under the water.

Abs lock this in the diary, next Saturday the 21st of Feb is the last session for the 2026 West Coast Roe Abalone season.
Beaches are fishing well with the arrival of some stonking mulloway over the past few weeks. And with the new Moon next Tuesday this weekend should we a cracking after dark bite for Tailor and the elusive Mulloway. Schools of Herring, Sand Whiting and Squid will keep you entertained in the mornings.

For the boaties the Pelagic season has hit its straps, With Wahoo, Shark Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Dollies Yellow fin and Blue Fin Tuna. The Mackerel have been seen generally in the shallows. Chasing bait in our inshore reef systems and structure. It’s the time of year to explore. casting a floating bait out the back as you flick lures giving you a chance form both angles.

This weekend is also the Annual Perth Game fishing clubs Marlin Cup the 14th and 15th Good luck to the fleet and fingers crossed to a few bills getting tagged.
