Weekly Winner | Lance with a local Mackie on the spear great stuff

Great mix of options from the last week or so Divers first up, When the weather has played ball, the visibility has been magic. Making the journey down through the water column to the bottom insanely good.

Crays are good in 20 to 30mtrs, activity from our inshore crays in the shallows will start to build all the way thru till April-May.

Inshore Mackerel are a real option as you can see, with several Shark Mackerel caught over the summer and several Spanish Mackerel taken by spear. Time on and under the water is what it’s all about. Most have been taken inside of the 20mtr mark. A flasher like the Rob Allan Ladder flashers will help get those at times timid fish in range for a shot.

Good schools of Skippy and good Sampson fish aren’t hard to find with a reasonable burley trail. Given the pelagic’s that are drifting around having a simple floater out the back always will be wise. A set of gangs with a fresh Pichard cast it as far as you can off the back of the boat, set the drag and you just never know a Mandurah Mackie may be all yours.

Abs this Saturday is the last scheduled Roe Abalone session for the summer. We are awaiting a weather report to see if it’s a go from the dept given the forecast for strong winds on Saturday. Make sure to check the depts pages before you go.

This weekend it’s the sheltered waterways we will be looking for with crabs, Bream, Juvenile Mulloway, Skippy, Herring and Tailor that will keep us engaged before some better weather forecast next week.
