Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines!
Leading into a full moon phase this Sunday, combined with a falling barometer, we could see an active tailor bite from our rock walls and groins. The ocean end of the Dawesville Cut is just one place where you could see some action. Lightly weighted mulies on gangs, just a ball sinker on the nose to help your cast and hold the mulie just under the surface. We want the bait looking as natural as possible. Winding it back in very slowly, just keeping tension on the lightly weighted bait, will also entice the bite. Darker lures, gold based or strong lumo. Jackson Muscle Shots are a good all-rounder, compact and at 30g cast well into the wind if needed.

Pink snapper may also show up with the moving water this weekend. Squid are generally more active with the build-up to the moon, right on or just after dark. Crays have been active. They will slow a little over the next week with the moon, but we expect them to build again in numbers towards the end of next week. Offshore, bluefin tuna are still in good numbers nearshore, along with skippy and Samson fish. Plenty of large sand whiting as well offshore inside the five fathoms, and on the outer edges we are seeing a mix of King George amongst them.
