The Reel Fishing Spot – 07 July 2023
July 07, 2023

Welcome to this week’s edition of On The Bite / The Reel Fishing Spot

A week of wild Winter weather has limited our opportunities to land based over the past 7 days.

The good news is there have still been some catches for those of us that are craving a flick.

You will need your beanie but those that have braved the conditions have caught good Herring in the Dawesville Cut and Mandurah entrance. If the fishing seems a little slow don’t be shy in mixing it up a bit. Change to a bottom rig rather than a surface. This gets your bait down deeper to where the salt water is more concentrated, and where more fish will hang out. Given the fresh that’s starting to flow over the top.

Land based Snapper will come into play, With the early part of the Weekend looking to be the best conditions. Just keep an eye on the swell for your own safety when fishing from the rocks.

Weeks like these are also perfect for reel maintenance and rig making. Time to take your reels off your rods and give them that extra wash. Pop off the spool and give all those important parts some fresh lubricant. Maybe even tie on a fresh leader, so you’re ready to rock n roll when mother nature lets us have another crack.

Check out our YouTube for some tips and tricks to do your own DIY reel maintenance.
