The Reel Fishing Spot – 15th September
September 15, 2023

Welcome to this week’s edition of on The Bite / The Reel Fishing Spot

This week, it’s all about fresh water and the sunshine we received in the last week of August. These changes got the trout on the move and in the mood!

The majority of rainbows were caught in skinny water this week and it seems to have responded more to trout nuggets than lures. Be sure to use a stealth approach and fine gauge hooks – tie all this together and you too could’ve been rewarded with fish up to 43cm
over the last week!

One of our local junior anglers, Tyson Ashcroft had a blast catching Brown Trout in one of our local dams. Their technique was to use a slow troll to entice a bite and when we say slow troll, it’s got to be walking pace or less. Make sure you use some bibbed lures to hold some depth.

The streams will be flowing after the rainfall of the past week keeping our freshwater species active and hopefully on the chew.

The weather of the past week and the consistent swell will be near perfect for land-based Snapper.

Be safe down the beaches as they may look a lot different than last weekend, expect new gutters and rips to explore.

WIN a $50 voucher every week!

We’re looking for local legends who are making the most of our demersal ban and finding other ways to wet a line this season.
