Crays for days, that is where it’s at. I can say we are seeing movement for sure. Over the next 10 days through the new moon I expect to see crays walking en masse to deeper waters and a new home. Remember to keep your pots in clear sand on the west side of the structure.

This Saturday marks the first Roe Abalone session for the season, between the hours of 7 and 8 am on the 13th of December. Add to your abs some fresh Blue Manna Crabs and this Saturday you have the opportunity to enjoy the trifecta of West Coast seafood. Your hardest choice is which of your favourite bevos you select to go with your crustacean platter.

Some cracking freshwater action over the last week or two as well, with anglers enjoying solid sessions and some nice tranquil time walking the streams and dams.

Tailor have hit the start of summer with a vengeance along the beaches and into our estuary system. Aggressive feeders at dawn and dusk willingly tackle surface lures, adding to the excitement for any angler.

We have seen squid make their way into the system over the last few weeks as well. Clear, slower moving water is the key to finding them. We also find our inshore squid prefer smaller sized squid jigs, even down to a 1.8 size.

Tuna offshore have finally made it to local waters. They have been slow turning up this year, but we expect them to get better over the next few weeks. Small skirts and Halco Max in close is the go for a mix in your spread. The Halco Max will comfortably swim at 7 to 8 knots, meaning your deep diver and your skirts are at their optimum, attracting more action.
