Tight Lines – 13th June
June 13, 2024

Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines

Grabbing weather windows is what winter fishing is all about. Today and tomorrow are perfect examples of still winter days.

Since the winter fronts have eased, we have seen Salmon and Tailor on our beaches, good sized fish just small groups not big schools. Fresh bait and early mornings helping anglers with success.

Herring are still in good numbers, stay away from any fresh water run off that may be happening, Fishing the back of the incoming tide is often fruitful this time of year.

This weather window will be almost perfect for our inshore Pink Snapper dirty water and calmer seas proving a great opportunity.

Recent Rains mean flowing streams can mean a bit more movement for our freshwater species.

Check out Daniel’s redfin on fly, a seriously good capture.

Those with pots in the water are also having great success with crays, no need to pull them every day, stay safe and pull them once or twice a week if need be. The dirty water will mean the crays are out and about so dropping on a bit flatter ground will mean less stuck pots with winter swells.

Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
