Tight Lines – 16 January, 2025

Welcome To This Week’s Edition Of Tight Lines

Another amazing week of diverse Fishing through the Peel region.

Offshore still firing with some big fish being caught. Cracking Dhu’s and still some inshore Snapper activity with the weekly swell that we have seen rolling thru. Add a few 50cm King George Whiting and a couple of Crays. Well.. smiles all round!

Pelagics there are Dollies on our Fads groups of 30 to 40 earlier in the week.  Our Blue Fin Tuna schools are slowly building in size with bird activity starting to increase as well. February being the traditional time that our pelagics are at their best and the signs are good for the season ahead.

Beaches, the Tailor Fishing has been epic with a really good sunset bite all along our coast. Tailor love to hunt in the twilight hence the increased activity as the sun slowly sets on the west coast.

Estuary, Our Crabs are consistently good in size and numbers one of the better seasons in a few years. The Tailor fishing on the recent build up to the full moon was also off the charts with fish shouldering each other out the way to be first to a popper of surface lure. Our Estuary is also holding good whiting, herring and a few skippy.

Inshore squid are also becoming more consistent slowly but surely with some bigger than average ones around.

For the divers the visibility in depth’s over 20 metres was excellent earlier in the week. And the jumbo’s we managed to snare were as sweet on the palate as they get.

Wherever you get the chance this weekend as always good luck tight lines and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
