Weekly Winner Ollie with a Classic West Coast Dhu
A solid week of fishing to round out the recent demersal season that closed at midnight Tuesday.

Colourful harlequin for Jodie on a day she outfished the boat

Kolby with a Solid Pink from 38mtrs of water
A real mixed bag of demersal’s being caught, there has been a noticeable spike in the number of good sized Harlequin with numerous healthy fish coming aboard between 50 and 60cm. The Coral Trout of the south, they are a tasty addition to a mix of Solid Break sea Cod and very active Pink Snapper. A nice mixed with a couple of Whiskery and Gummy sharks being added to catch bags as well. We await the outcome of Demersal meetings that start again on Monday but at this stage the season will reopen on the 16th of December.
So, with the demersal closure we turn our attention to other fisheries. Freshwater has been buoyant with the dams offering some nice rainbow Trout.

When my Mum Nettie throws a 58cm KG in the mix

Mark with a good end of season Dhu
The Sand seams of our inshore systems and the areas around 28mtr have had some nice King George whiting. Shout out to my mum who is featured this week with a 58cm model that was over 1,1kg.
We are also seeing a few squid on the inshore reefs, keep a squid jig rigged up and within reach as they often follow up our target species of skippy and whiting a quick-thinking fellow fisher with a jig at the ready can mean you get to take home a true mixed bag.

Crystal with her very first Dhu fish

Kyle with a cracking inshore Snapper
XL Sambos are also patrolling the same areas offering serious arm stretch to a peaceful inshore session.
Beaches have offered plenty of good-sized Pink Snapper, a good mix of Tailor and some more consistent Mulloway numbers.

With a chunky inshore Snapper

Peter with fish of the day his very own solid Snapper
The Estuary while still holding a lot of fresh water has offered up Yellow fin Whiting on lures during the week. Vibes or surface lures with a little more colour than the mostly translucent ones we traditionally use are showing the best results.
