Welcome To This Week’s Edition of Tight Lines

Welcome to the festive edition of Tight Lines! What a fantastic year it has been. In, on, or under the water.

If you’re looking for options for your Christmas break, try the following:

Crays: There are still plenty around. For the best success, place your pots a little wider in 20-plus metres of water.

Pink Snapper: Due to the consistent swell coming through weekly, the water remains dirty enough for inshore Pink Snapper, just like the winter months. Anchor and burley on the Five Fathom Bank. Expect to see skippy, samson fish, and the occasional yellowtail kingfish in your burley trail.

Dhu Fish, Baldchin Groper, and Breaksea Cod: During the summer months, these species become more active off the back of the whites’ run. Target waters over 30 metres for better activity.

Pelagics: Bluefin tuna have been a little quieter over the past 7 days, but we expect their activity to pick up as currents push harder from the north. Around the FADs, a few dolphin fish have been sighted, and we expect more to appear as the northern currents get closer.

Beaches: Herring, whiting, tailor, and the occasional Pink Snapper can be found in the slightly dirty water.

Dawesville Cut: Herring, tailor, juvenile salmon, and the occasional squid can be found during periods of cleaner water.

Estuary: The estuary is fishing well, with catches of whiting, tailor, salmon, and a good handful of crabs coming through.

From all of us at Tackle World Miami, thank you for your patronage throughout the year. Stay safe, enjoy your time with family and friends, and have a very Merry Christmas!
