Tight Lines – 19th September
September 19, 2024

Welcome To This Week’s Edition of Tight Lines

There was plenty of good weather available this week for boat anglers to take advantage of the start of the Demersal season which kicked off Monday the 16th.

With school holidays just around the corner, this weekend’s morning weather windows are a great opportunity to take the family fishing for a tasty Snapper, Dhufish or Breaksea Cod.

The water south of Dawesville seems to be a bit cleaner at the moment and plenty of fish have come from that way drifting the back of the inshore reef system from 18m to 25m of water.

Just remember to check all your safety gear and read up on the latest rules to ensure a hassle-free day on the water!

A small band of cooler water has pushed inshore from the south delivering good schools of Bonito which surprised many anglers and plenty of Gummy sharks were caught along our local beaches and inshore reefs.

A couple of Tackle World Miami lads took advantage of Tuesdays amazing weather and found some nice Breaksea Cod and Skippy on the 5 Fathom bank while drifting baits through a burley trail and then headed out wider to play tug’o’war with a few Samson fish.

Inland waters have been fishing really well with Bream being plentiful in our marina and canal systems, Juvenile Salmon have been hard to get through whilst slinging a small baitfish imitation around and some really nice Redfin Perch were picked up by some lucky anglers fishing dams to the south.

And as always it’s definitely worth sending a lure out the back of the boat when traveling between spots as Tuna are always keen to hit a trolled Minnow or skirted lure.

Stay safe this school holidays, diversify your catch, keep it interesting for the kiddos and be sure you’re always fishing for the future.
