Welcome To This Week’s Edition of Tight Lines
Crays. What’s the go? From all we can see and looking at the mixed bag of reds and whites from divers, they are still mid-moult phase.
For those with pots it’s another 10 days or so before we could expect lots of action. Divers are slowly but surely getting better visibility to work with. Good reports around the numbers and size of crays, it’s looking good for the season ahead.
Our beaches are doing well with Skippy, Salmon and Tailor. The stormy weather and higher tides over the past few days can often help with the bite on beaches and into the flats of our estuary. The flats of our estuary are also fishing well with Tailor, Salmon, Herring and Yellow fin whiting.
We have also seen the first of our land-based squid over the past week or so. The trick to our system is generally smaller size squid jigs, 2.5 and smaller. The Shimano clinch with the Flash boost technology one to certainly have in your tackle box, and for colours in general the clearer the water and brighter the day the brighter and more reflective to have your squid jig. The dirtier the water and darker the day the darker your jig should be.
Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
