Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines
Lots of signs over the past week that Autumn is starting to influence our fishing and the change in active species.
Land based Pink Snapper are already starting to show up with the slightly creamy and slightly cooler inshore water.
Squid are more Prevalent along our beaches rock walls and groins.
Solid Skippy are also turning up in bigger numbers, lightly weighted baits, lipless minnows, and light leaders to go for more success.
King George Whiting have also been on the chew. Nudging 50cm, they are hard to go past for a rewarding morning on the water.
It’s also the time of year to look at pulling your cray pots back out of the shed and back in the drink. Autumn is a great time to get some red crays hard up on the reef.
Autumn time is beach fishing and Salmon time. However, it’s near impossible to accurately predict how big the schools will be and how high they will come up our West Coast.
We are already seeing schools coming past Cape Leeuwin, and considering it’s only the 22 of March the early signs are super positive for a solid Salmon run in 2024.
