Alex committed to a plan and a early start, Solid Dollie on the woodie
Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines
Those that took advantage of the nice weather last weekend enjoyed some good fishing. This ANZAC long weekend will be no different.
After some smaller cold fronts this week the sunshine will return, and the swell is forecast to fall over the next few days. Conditions are different and with a few adjustments to allow for water clarity we could see some great fishing over the next week.
Ashlyn getting amongst the Salmon action
Cruz having a day out on the Salmon
Crays – if you have a few days off it will be well worth dropping your pots in the drink. The creamy water and smaller moon will have the local crays active. Setting pots on hard bottom this time of year looking for full reds.
Our rock walls, beaches and groins will be productive. The scrappy weather will help to push a few more salmon into the beaches. Baits may be better earlier in the weekend due to water clarity. If you wish to cast a lure go to darker based lures rather than shiny lures, the darker base lures will cast a silhouette and be seen by the hungry predators. Gold and purple, the go-to in these conditions.
Macey Ripper KG
Matthew with a seriously chunky local tailor
Pink snapper will also come into play. Fresh herring or mullet rigged well the go on the cast or by drone.
Herring, tailor and mulloway are still consistent. As the weekend goes on they should keep anglers active.
Oden with a pretty cool 52cm Flatty
The Ryley Boys, love your work lads
Boaties – the conditions will get better deeper into the weekend and into early next week. As the seas settle down the water clarity will slowly come back meaning an anchor and burley on the five fathoms for skippy and YT king is an option. The sand seams within the bank are the place to explore for KG and sand whiting this time of year.
Theo with a nice Yellow Tail King
Vince with a Land based Pink
Pelagics will still be out there and as the seas settle Sunday and Monday may be the best time for a trip wide with a nice spread of deeper divers and skirts.
As you make your first cast this weekend pause to remember those that have served for this great country. Either currently, in the past or those that paid the ultimate sacrifice.
ANZAC Day 2026.
Wherever you get the chance this week as always good luck, tight lines and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
