Lots of options still in the Peel region, those of us that love our light tackle sports fishing are starting to tempt a few surface strikes. Matty has been road testing the new TW Maimi colour in the Daiwa Slippery Dog with success under trying conditions. Cool and overcast with intermittent showers of rain, not the type of weather we would generally contemplate even flicking a lure around on the flats but hay we can’t wait forever for mother nature to warm things up a bit.

For those that have tempted fish already a big thumbs up.

The wet spring has kept the streams flowing up in the hills, flowing streams mean active Trout. Keep your lures small as the bugs are out but not big yet, match the hatch for best success.

Beaches are still offering good conditions for Land Based Snapper, and with the big new moon tides the bite should be good. Good sized Tailor and a handful of Mulloway are also getting about.

The Fresh water flowing out of the Cut and Mandurah is holding herring and the like back for now. Fishing on the cleanest water flow of the day will help your success. Fingers crossed we are only a few weeks away from cleaner water.

The find some of our tasty bread and butter species fish up the beaches away from the fresh outflow.

Those with cray pots in are doing real well with full juicy reds keeping smiles on anglers faces.

Skippy, King George and super-sized Sampson fish keeping boaties active on the water.
