Tight Lines – 26th April
April 26, 2024

Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines

The cooler Autumn days have well and truly started to set in and with this change in weather, we also look forward to new fishing options opening up for both land based anglers and boaties alike.

For the kids, there’s plenty of light tackle action on offer with hordes of silver bream being caught along our rock walls and jetties. Juvenile mulloway are held in the marinas and canal systems and plenty of skippy are also close by.

Dhufish continue to be the shining star in many fish bags and as the waters cool down the fishing should only get better.

Our inshore snapper really comes alive at this time of year and the anchor and burley method is still one of the most effective methods for boaties while those casting from the sand and rocks will also snag a few tasty pinks.

With low winds and swell forecasts for both Saturday and Sunday mornings, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to try this technique out for yourself.

Finally for a tasty change of species there’s plenty of bigger squid hanging along our inshore weed beds.

And our estuary prawns will be firing up on the back of this full moon making a wade in the shallows with your headlamp and scoop net a worthwhile endeavour.

Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
