Weekly Winner | Crosby with an Impressive Yellow Fin Whiting on surface
Cray Cray Fever is close, Crays on the back of the beach structure have moulted and have moved from their hiding position deep in the limestone to back out on the ledges, they are still soft but firming up daily. Its definitely time to get your pots out of the shed and into the drink. Make sure your ballast is tight not lose, your anodes are tight and clean, ropes are fresh and floats are identified with your ID.
If your pots have dried out totally, they will take 7-10 days to season and soak to catch at optimal levels.
This Monday the 1st of December is also the start of our Blue Manna crab season; how many have come into the system over the last month or so is hard to tell. But the crew who spend time on the water chasing fish on our flats have noted seeing some good-sized crabs for this time of the year.
Reeve with a giant herring form the Murray
Jasper with fiesty Sambo
Fuller tides last week and some good clean water has seen an influx of bait and hence more active predators in the system. With Whiting Herring and Tailor all actively herding up shoals of whitebait.
With the bait activity they are becoming very active on surface with the new TWM colour in Slippery Dog 65 being a consistent performer.
Our rivers have some nice fun size Mulloway in good numbers, happily taking well-presented plastics and hard bodies.
Freshwater is also still a good option with a mild spring the conditions and water temps are still in the zone for freshwater activity.
Offshore Skippy, Sambos and King George whiting are all active.
And our beaches will be the place to be over the next 10 days as we build up the full moon on the 5th of Dec the Tailor bite will increase, coincide this with the afternoon/early evening tides and the action should be consistently good.
