Tight Lines – 28 November, 2024
November 28, 2024

Welcome To This Week’s Edition of Tight Lines

Crays, what’s the go? It’s starting to happen, whilst there is still some moulting going on the earlier moulted crays have started to firm up enough to be active. Are they full on walking yet? No, I don’t think so.

They are starting to move around a little and have their appetite back if your pots are on the edge of the weed and or broken limestone you will start to see some of these crays getting into your pots over the next 7 to 14 days weather pending we will see these crays bunching up on the edges before they take the plunge and start their migration across the sand and open ocean.

Offshore we have seen the first of the Dolphin fish off our FADS which is exciting. The current that helps with the bait and the migration of these pelagic species down the coast is slowly starting to make a push. The season for Dolphin fish, Wahoo, Blue fin and Yellow fin Tuna is just beginning.

Inshore we have seen more squid caught land based over the last week. Make your fishing the hour before sunset on the back of the incoming for best success.

Our Estuary is really hitting its straps with Mulloway, Flounder, Whiting, Tailor and Salmon. Add the squid coming into the system and wow, what an inland sheltered waterway it is!

Crabbing, remember this Sunday the first of December is the opening of our crabbing season. Take care of this precious species, gauge them as soon as they are out of the water, and if they are under the gauge return them carefully so they grow.

Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
