Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines

Easter is here believe it or not. Easter in the Southwest of WA is all about beach fishing and given the weather forecast for the next 7 days or so is going to be a cracker.

Slowly but surely, we are seeing a nice build up of salmon to our south. The Capes region is seeing a consistent flow of reasonable size schools getting all the way around to Eagle and Bunkers Bay. Next stop could be Myalup, Preston, Whitehill’s and Tims. With mid-morning tides setting up a berley trail can be key to getting the moving fish onto your patch. I run a berley bag in the wash of the surf plus throw mulie cubes at regular intervals. With one rod set with a mulie on a gang when we aren’t seeing fish. Plus having a rod with a lure ready to roll if you start seeing fish in the surf.

Beach days are fun days

Autumn is also a good time for mulloway with the freshest bait you can get my best tip. A fresh fillet of tailor on a Dingle Dangle rig gives you the best chance of a silver ghost lighting up your headlamp.

For boaties we are seeing a few yellow tail kings on our inshore reef systems. Anchor and burley is the best way to tangle with a few. Expect good skippy to turn up in the burley trail as well.

The estuary is great for crabs with the bigger blues getting out and about. Tailor and herring are in good numbers for some Easter fun for all the family.

Wherever you get the chance this week as always good luck, tight lines and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
