Are the crays going down for a moult? That’s the question. Now we are past the full moon we would expect pot activity to slowly build as we push thru the upcoming weekend. If that activity doesn’t return, we are seeing the first signs of the cycle for the start of the white’s run. If they are going into a moult phase it will be two to three weeks before we see activity. All is not lost as they are always a small handful of crays that don’t moult and can remain active sure you may not see a dozen crays in a pot at a time but two’s and three’s aren’t a bad way to start the day bad either.

The next season for our Blue Manna crabs our other local crustation is only a few weeks away as well with the 1 st of December not far away.

The Estuary is slowly warming up on the fishing front, with Herring showing up in better numbers, and increasingly Tailor are making a Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines presence. Topwater is where it is at and from here the season will only get better as the water quality and clarity improves.

While they are a little stirred up, we have also seen some good Whiting on the beaches over the past week or so. A small cube of prawn, a vibe, or a gulp Bloodworm have been the best.

The early morning or late arvo Tailor sessions have also produced some solid springtime fish.
