Welcome To This Week’s Edition Of Tight Lines
Welcome to a new Year of Tight lines and the return of our weekly $50 Voucher.
There’s plenty of things on already! The Marron Season opened on Tuesday the 7th of January running through till Wednesday the 5th of February at 12 noon.
Technically a freshwater crayfish, our local Marron which are unique to Southwest WA have lots of unique rules to protect their stock across the different waterways. For best info download the Marron Fishing guide from the Dept of Fisheries.
Abalone, this Saturday the 11th of February is the second 1-hour window between the hours of 7 and 8am. This is for Roe abalone in the West Coast bio region.
And for those that have had time to be on the water over the past week or two we have seen some cracking catches.
Offshore we are in the middle of our current demersal opening that runs thru till the 31st of January hence we have seen some cracking Snapper, Dhu Fish, Breaksea and Baldchin. While some fish have been taken shallower more consistent catches this time of year are from 30 to 60 metres deep.
Our beaches are getting nice and clean with the schools of summer whiting starting to build up nicely. The mornings are producing nice Herring with a few Gardies mixed amongst them. The evenings are producing consistent good-sized Tailor.
Our Estuary is fishing amazingly, to crabs first. I personally had a cracking session just last weekend with good numbers and size but more importantly they were full juicy and sweet.
Whiting are plentiful and still good size, with anglers experiencing plenty of hot sessions with fired up fish. Remember on those days when they just wont commit to a surface lures vibes may just do the thing to turn on the bite.
Our estuary is also full of Herring, Tailor and the occasional Skippy as well just to fulfill your light tackle fix.
