Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines
With another spell of hot weather lined up for the weekend there is only one place to be. That’s either on, in or under the water. February to March is Blue Manna Crab time, and the hot weather is helping big time. After a slow start to the season the crabs are growing rapidly with the consistent heat waves we are receiving.
If all this stays in place, we should see them moult and grow even further through February and March. The only decision you will have to make then is either steamed, or chilli Crab for dinner?
The Tailor on our beaches are becoming more and more consistent, with fish up to 60cm taken on local beaches earlier in the week.
I’ve also seen a few solid late-night Mulloway getting up to, and over the 10kg mark.
Offshore Southern BlueFin Tuna seem to be the best in 45 to 50 metres.
And for the inshore boaties Herring and Tailor are consistent in our Estuary system.
Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
