Tight Lines – 9th May
May 09, 2024

Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines

Let’s look at the key opportunities this weekend in local waters. A forecast lift in the swell Friday and Saturday combined with the dark side of the moon, is going to provide good conditions to target Inshore or land-based Pink Snapper during the back half of the weekend.

Anchor well back from your structure point, set a good berley trail with the combination of a bag boatside, plus the addition of cubes to the water for best success.

The weekend Conditions will also prove near perfect conditions to target Crays in pots in our inshore reefs.

The stir up from the forecast swell will dirty up the water enough to get the crays wandering a little wider from the ledges and crevices they hide in.

For the inshore angler our Estuary is still offering good options. Look for the pockets of ultra clear water to find bait, Tailor, Herring and a good handful of Squid.

And just a reminder that the submission time to voice your objection to the proposed South Coast marine park area, is due to end shortly. Jump on to the Rec Fish West facebook page for some info, and links to help you with your submission.

Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
