Welcome to this week’s edition of Tight Lines, the Tackle World Miami Weekly Fishing Report.

Wintery weeks and small windows, but as you can see there are still smiles for miles for those who hit the weather windows with a bit of planning.
This type of weather is perfect for a solid inshore Snapper bite, and Haley, Sam, Vince, Sasha and Scott all got stuck into some phat fish. Haley and Scotty both cracked the 90cm mark. Once Snapper reach that size they go hard in shallow water, and when that pink glow appears through the dirty water it’s hard to contain the excitement. High fives all round.
We also saw a couple of uncommon catches this week including a Blue Grouper and a colourful Harlequin. These species aren’t typical offshore targets locally, but a few are landed each year. As a diver, you tend to see them more often than most boat fishos would believe.
On the beaches, Alex has been fishing with his family and landed a nice 54cm Tailor. We’ve had a good run of winter Tailor recently, with many fish over 50cm. Morning tides and early evenings are your best bet.
Freshwater options are improving thanks to consistent showers. Water flow is key to an active trout bite, so it’s worth hiking into the hills to explore smaller streams. Finally, the middle to lower reaches of our rivers have been producing quality Bream and river Mulloway. These rewards take a bit of patience and stealth, but they’re well worth the effort.
