Tight Lines – 17th October
October 17, 2024

Welcome To This Week’s Edition of Tight Lines

Cracking closing week on the recent Demersal season with good numbers on the chew. Inshore Pink Snapper were at their absolute best along with some Cracking DhuFish. Remember the Demersal season is now closed until the 16th of December.

Other options to keep everyone on the water are endless. Our beaches are cleaning up with bait building in the shallows. 50cm plus Tailor, Herring and whiting on the beaches to the south and north of town.

The ocean end of the Dawesville cut has juvenile salmon keeping anglers busy. The Estuary end has good KG whiting and herring. The Estuary Flats fishing is getting solid with bait moving into the system Whiting both yellowfin and KG, Herring, Tailor and a handful of skippy plus stalking Juvenile Salmon.

We are still waiting just a little longer for our influx of springtime squid, the bigger tides on this full moon certainly helping and now we are seeing more bait. They aren’t far away, I’m sure.

Crays last chance to get some reds in the reef off the back of this full moon as it starts to wain the cray will be back out and about before they go into a moult phase for the end of November Whites run.

Last weekend we also saw the hatching of some springtime insects which should help our sunset freshwater fishing.

Wherever you get the chance to wet a line this weekend as always, good luck tight lines, and remember every day’s a good day for fishing.
